Everything you ever wanted to know about The Father Life...
About Us Contact Information Contribution Guidelines Press / Media Privacy Policy Becoming a dad doesn't mean that you stop being a guy. It definitely changes things, but it doesn't require you to surrender yourself to a life of mini-vans and diapers. You can still have ambitions, interests, and good taste. We here at The Father Life believe that being a great dad can go hand-in-hand with being a great guy! And that's what The Father Life is all about. We are the only men's magazine geared toward fathers; a magazine for guys who work hard, play hard, and father hard! The Father Life is all online, and totally free (revenue will come from advertising that will begin running fall of '07). We release new stories every Monday. Written by fathers, for fathers... The Father Life wasn't cooked up in some Madison Avenue boardroom. It was started by three guys just like you! The three of us are busy with career and young families, and we were looking around for a good men's magazine geared toward today's fathers... to our surprise, we couldn't find one! So, we started The Father Life! We're dads ourselves, and we want this to be authentic, so we use a lot of reader-generated content and royalty free photos in partnership with sites like Flickr and Stock Exchange! We focus on content for today's busy fathers who are involved in everything from family and career to sports and investing. We want to provide you with something you can use, you can grow from, and that will make you think... but, as a men's magazine, we want to keep things fresh and interesting. As one of our readers has said, "less Lifetime Movie Channel, more Spike and NFL!" We agree. Along with our content, our Forums also provide you with one place online to toss around ideas and voice your opinion on everything from cars to sports to toilet training and family vacations. The founders... Ben Murphy, Founder / Chief Executive Officer - "I'm 30 (almost), married, with two young daughters. By day I'm a Director in the non-profit sector here in upstate New York. My formal background is in Communication and Online Media." "As Founder and CEO I focus primarily on the development and promotion of The Father Life. I think what we're doing is pretty unique, and I'm really excited about where it's headed! We're really focusing on being a men's magazine geared towards fathers rather than simply a dad's magazine or a parenting magazine for dads." "Thanks for checking out The Father Life! I hope you like what you see! And, if you do, please spread the word! Feel free to drop me a line any time at: bmurphy@thefatherlife.com." Ryan Marshall, Co-Founder / Technical Director - "I'm 30 (almost), married, with a young daughter. I'm a web designer by trade, and have been handling all the web design and IT-related task for The Father Life." "I am extremely excited about the future of The Father Life. Thank you for being part of the adventure!" "I strongly encourage you to let us know what we need to do to stay relevant. I can be reached at rmarshall@thefatherlife.com." Ben Loux, Co-Founder / Chief Compliance Officer - "I'm 30 (almost) married, with a young daughter. My background is in business and accounting, and as such I handle all the Finance and Compliance aspects of The Father Life. Aside from the daily thrills of crunching numbers and playing with spreadsheets I am passionate about almost all things sports related and of course my family time." "I love the potential of what The Father Life can be and know that there is a definite desire for fathers to be allowed to be men but also to take pride and joy in our kids. It has been great to see this idea grow and I look forward to watching where our community of real dads can go." "Thanks for checking us out. Come back frequently if you think this can be useful and don't be afraid to let us know what we need to do to be fresh and helpful. Good luck on your adventures in parenting and I hope we can be a resource for you as we also learn how to be the fathers we want to be. For any questions or ideas I can be contacted at bloux@thefatherlife.com." Ben Martin, Editor-In-Chief - "I'm 30 (almost), and happily married with four (count 'em, 1-2-3-4) kids. My 'real job' is in radio, where I'm part producer, part manager, part talent, and part anything-else-that-needs-to-be-done." "I've been following The Father Life since it was launched, and I'm thrilled to be joining the team now. I really believe that fathers are under-served in all area of media right now, and I'm excited to be a part of something that's changing the status-quo. The Father Life is exactly what is needed for fathers with young kids, and I look forward to helping it reach the next level." "Your input as a reader will help me do my job better. Whether it's feedback about a story, a suggestion for a new story, or just a question about something you've read, drop me a line at editor@thefatherlife.com." |
